Chattanooga Gas provides safe and reliable natural gas service to approximately 69,000 customers in southeast Tennessee. To ensure the safety and reliability of our pipeline infrastructure, we continually perform regular safety checks and maintenance. There's a chance that you may see our qualified employees and contractors performing work in your neighborhood. Chattanooga Gas reminds community members to remain vigilant around any active construction site and practice the following safety precautions:
Our community has been very fortunate to see dramatic growth over the past decade. The demand for natural gas has increased as more industrial users, businesses and residential customers have connected to our system.
In an effort to meet the growing demand for natural gas service, Chattanooga Gas made improvements to the natural gas pipeline system across its service area throughout 2014. Improving the pressure in communities throughout the area means you can be assured of having natural gas when you need it the most – to warm your home during cold weather and to run any appliances that operate on environmentally friendly gas.
A pressure improvement project was also completed in the Bill Reed Road area. This project increased our system capacity so we can continue to provide safe and reliable service.
The Pipeline Replacement Program (PRP) is an infrastructure improvement project which will replace more than 110 miles of aging pipelines in Chattanooga with state-of-the-art plastic and steel pipes. This project will ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the Chattanooga Gas natural gas pipeline system.
Property owners directly impacted by the project work will receive a letter prior to the start of the work. There may be temporary inconveniences to residents who live in the project areas. Chattanooga Gas will strive to minimize any impact in your community during construction.
