Chattanooga Gas provides tips to help customers prepare for hurricane season

Hurricane preparedness is not only about protecting your home or natural gas appliances – it’s about providing peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

At Chattanooga Gas, we believe that prioritizing safety starts well before a storm arrives. As we enter another hurricane season, we remind customers to always be ready for potential storms.

Empowerment through preparedness

There is no playbook for when and how a hurricane will impact our communities, but there are steps you can take to stay confident amidst uncertainty.

  • Build an emergency kit and include the Chattanooga Gas Severe Weather Safety Tips for before, during, and after a storm to your checklist.
  • Recognize the signs of a natural gas leak: a rotten egg smell, hissing sounds, or dirt blowing in the air.
  • Never attempt to turn natural gas services back on yourself. Our team will do it safely.
  • You can protect you, your property, and the people around you by keeping access to your gas meters free from debris and knowing where the main shutoff valve is.

After a storm, your instinct might be to start cleaning up. However, your safety must come first. If your gas appliances have been flooded or damaged, dial 866.643.4170, and one of our first responders will inspect them for you.

More than service. It’s our commitment.
