We strive to uplift and empower the areas where we live, work and serve through charitable giving and volunteer efforts that fuel possibilities, improve communities and grant access to sustainable resources. We are intentionally focused on initiatives that inspire new ways of connecting and transforming the communities where we operate.
We are committed to supporting local businesses as well as statewide economies through active participation in state and local chambers of commerce, business organizations and investment programs. We believe there is more than a good way to do business; there is a right way. Part of doing business the right way is being an active participant in the economic development of our service area. We run an economic development program to help companies seeking to relocate, build or expand in Tennessee. We provide leadership, knowledge and resources in helping customers choose development sites or plan expansions of their businesses. And, as we bring renewable gas solutions to market, we help create local high-paying clean energy jobs and attract new businesses that rely on natural gas for their processes or products.
We have a longstanding commitment to minimizing our environmental impact. We strive to meet or exceed all state and federal laws and regulations, ensuring the protection of diverse habitats within our service area. From the outset of a project, we make every effort to avoid impacting the environment, such as by rerouting projects around sensitive ecological areas. When impacts are unavoidable, we focus on minimizing them and are dedicated to restoring and mitigating any effects before, during, and after construction. Our goal is to return land, water, and other natural resources to their original conditions. We also seek opportunities to actively rejuvenate natural spaces within our service area.
Through our charitable giving and volunteerism, we’re committed to strengthening the communities where we live and work. Our contributions focus on supporting, economic mobility, environmental stewardship and community enrichment.
We are intentionally focused on being a catalyst for positive impact in our communities and environment. That’s why we fund the good works of nonprofit partners that advance lives across our footprint. For example, we partner with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to help bring nourishing food to the people of our region who are in need. Working hand-in-hand with retailers, manufacturers, farmers, buying alliances and individual donors, we support its mission to end hunger for every person in our region.
Giving our time is another one of the many ways we honor our promise to support and uplift our communities. Our internal site, myIMPACT, makes finding volunteer opportunities easy. Through annual volunteer campaigns called Energy to Serve and Energy to Give, we’ve cleared hiking trails, cleaned up waterways and run food and clothing drives to meet the urgent needs of our local communities. In 2024, 99 Chattanooga Gas employees gave over 250 hours in service to local nonprofits.
